Peter Brett Associates are an established multidisciplinary consultancy with over 600 staff worldwide in offices across the UK, Europe, Africa and Asia. PBA International is a fully owned subsidiary and has been operating in the Czech Republic since 1998 under the name of PBA International Prague, spol. s r.o.

Mixed-use developments and shopping centres

ŠESTKA shopping centre, Prague - Responsibilities included the design of all heating, cooling and air-conditioning systems for a new shopping centre in Prague 6 - approx. 40.000 sqm and hypermarket 7.000 sqm for all stages of the project, i.e. planning and building permit designs, tender and detailed construction documentation.

Chomutov shopping centre, Chomutov - PBAI were appointed to review the building permit documentation and prepare a complete detailed construction design of all MEP installations (electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems) including relocations of the existing on-site utilities (water, drainage, heat and public lighting) for a new shopping centre and an apartment building in Chomutov city centre. Services included designer's supervision during the construction process.

Metropolis, Bratislava - Responsibilities included the concept design of traffic solutions, building services and connection to public utilities for a mixed-use scheme with more than 500,000 sqm of floor area. The design included preparation of the trip generation model, parking assessment, modelling of traffic intensities, design of service roads, development connection to the existing transport system, calculation of demand for individual utilities (gas, water, electricity, etc.) and design of a combined cooling, heating and power system (CCHP) including assessment of its economic return.

City Centre Constanta, Romania - PBAI were appointed to prepare a concept design for a 65,000 sqm GFA mixed-use scheme split into three development phases. The design included all building services, structures, utilities and transport and access planning.

River Park, Bratislava - PBAI were appointed to prepare a complete design of cooling by means of river water of a mixed-use property in Bratislava located in a premium location of the Danube river embankment. Works covered the complete design of the internal cooling water supply pipe work including its connection to cooling plant rooms and external pumping as well as soak away facilities.

Pribinova, Bratislava - PBAI were appointed to prepare the concept and planning permission design for the new highly prestigious city centre development, the largest project of this type in Central and Eastern Europe. The development includes offices, retail, hotel, residential as well as leisure facilities and will create a whole new riverside quarter of the Slovakian capital in the place of a former river port. PBAI worked closely with the architects of the scheme, Skidmore, Owings and Merrill of the USA and Murray O'Laoire of Ireland. The services provided include the design of civil engineering installations as well as mechanical, electrical and plumbing services for the whole development.
