PBA International and OmniTRANS

PBA has got a long term experience in traffic modelling and uses a wide range of various software products according to customer demand. Lately, our engineers started to prefer OmniTRANS, that fulfils all technical requirements for multimodal traffic modelling, provides user friendly environment and comprises its own object oriented programming language. Thanks to our satisfaction, we became an exclusive distributor of this product for Czech and Slovak Republic.

OmniTRANS offers:

OmniTRANS provides many hands-on methods, which are used for conventional traffic modelling, is able to assess enhanced traffic processes, find transport interactions, provides static and dynamic traffic demand modelling, trip distribution, and environmental impacts assessment.

OmniTRANS is meant for modelling small towns, regions, complex areas or whole states and is mainly used as a:

1) Tool for implementing transport strategies for town planning

  • Software, which is used for setting traffic strategies and helps meet targets of transport policy in a particular area.
  • Can be used to sequentially assess development sites and identify the optimum transport pattern of development to maximise the potential for travelling by non car modes.
  • Can be used to identify and prioritise transport investment to meet objectives such as minimising congestion through testing different scenarios.
  • Can be used to graphically show the problems within the transport network, showing how congestion develops from ‘hot spots’ and how transport strategies can address these problems – can be a very powerful tool for transport planners, city master planners and political decision makers.
  • Transport assessment includes all modes of transport - tram, car, bus, underground, and cycles.
    Can test changes to factors such as transport infrastructure provision, public transport service provision and the application of a range of intelligent transport systems.
  • OmniTRANS is used to provide information as a basis for environmental impact assessments.
    Data from the multimodal model can be used as a basis for a smaller area more detailed micro-simulation.
    A city model can help to develop and demonstrate a coherent transport strategy, which could help in obtaining money from European Funding.

2) As a Development Control Tool

  • Provides a fair and comparable basis for assessing development impacts.
  • Provides a basis for identifying levels of transport service and infrastructure that should be delivered by developers.
  • Model can be run on behalf of developer as a part of the transport assessment process.
  • Provides output that can be used to assess environmental impacts.

3) As a network Management Tool

Off line Tool

  • The model can be used to test the likely effects of major events, major road works or major incidents on the network.
  • OmniTRANS can modify signal timings according to a traffic model.

On line Tool

  • OmniTRANS Real Time is built for traffic management, where a model can be integrated into a traffic management system. The model is able to operate at real time and hence provide a short term prediction of likely traffic conditions.
